Two complexes of thunderstorms in the Pacific but which one will lead to Barbara?

Chances are increasing that Barbara will form in the eastern Pacific, but exactly how the next week will unfold is a bit complex and will feature two clusters of thunderstorms, competing to be the basin’s next named storms.

“An elongated trough of low pressure is located several hundred miles south of southern Mexico…Environmental conditions appear conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form over the weekend while the system moves generally west-northwestward,” the NHC stated during a recent update.
