
Storms in Texas are creating an atmosphere for scientists to study the impacts of hail. Exclusive FOX Weather Storm Tracker Mark Sudduth explains.
DALLAS – A multiday severe weather and flash flood threat continued on Tuesday, with millions of people across Texas and Louisiana seeing strong to severe storms with damaging hail and life-threatening flooding.
The risk comes as search and rescue crews continue to look for a 10-year-old girl who was swept away by floodwaters in Central Texas.

Forecasters with NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center highlighted areas around Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin for seeing the worst of the weather.
Outside of New Orleans, a severe warned storm dropped quarter to golf-ball-sized hail in New Iberia. Meteorologists said hail this large will injure people and animals as well as damage cars and houses.
Structural damage was reported outside of Waco, Texas, where several trees were down and roofs were damaged.

And in rural North Texas, damage was reported to wind turbines and a nearby airport after a severe thunderstorm rolled through.
According to meteorologists, most of the damage in the Lone Star State appeared to be straight-line winds and not associated with a tornado.
Potentially life-threatening flash flooding eyes Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi

The flooding threat was also heightened as powerful storms move across the southern Plains and along the Gulf Coast, putting millions on alert for potentially life-threatening flash flooding.
The highest flash flood threat will start by midday on Tuesday across portions of East Texas and Louisiana.

A video shared from Wichita Falls, Texas, shows flash flooding on May 6 as torrential rain and severe weather moved across the area.
Storms will continue to pummel the area overnight across Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast into Mississippi. The strongest storms and heaviest rain are expected along the Gulf Coast by Wednesday morning, eventually extending into the Florida Panhandle.
Cities and towns from the southern Plains to the Southeast are expected to pick up a few inches of rain. However, the highest totals will be found from East Texas through Louisiana and into southern Mississippi and Alabama.
Southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi could see 5-8 inches of rain with some locally higher amounts.
