Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with several deliberate fires in Edinburgh thought to be linked to an ongoing gang feud in the city.

The two, age 17 and 18, were arrested after a house in the Hay Drive area of Niddrie was targeted in the early hours last Friday.

The 18-year-old has also been arrested in connection with the wilful fire of a car at Parrotshot on 2 March and a deliberate fire at a beauty salon on Albert Street in Leith on 6 March.

Police Scotland said they were treating the incidents as linked to other recent instances of wilful fire raising and the discharge of firearms at properties elsewhere in the city.

Officers previously confirmed the outbreak of violence may have spread to the west of Scotland following an initial investigation.

Separately, a 24-year-old man appeared in court on Tuesday charged with wilful fire-raising and reset of a stolen vehicle.

Groups ‘targeting each other’

The feud begun on 6 March when the beauty salon was targeted in the early hours of the morning.

The house in Niddrie and a garage in Portobello have also been subjected to fire attacks.

Meanwhile, reports of shots being fired at another house in Niddrie and a property in West Pilton Bank were reported to police on 20 and 21 March respectively.

Police confirmed they were “linked to groups actively targeting each other”.

On Monday, homes in Meadow Court, Ashgill Road and Gala Street in Glasgow were set alight.

Businesses in Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs were also targeted.
